cylinder 1 not firing with e-85

Post by henrybui »

My friends k20a2 swapped ek is misfiring only on e85. when running on 91 cylinder 1 fires. when tested the leads of the coil of the trigger and ground only outputs 1 volt or less on cylinder 1, and cylinder 2, 3, and 4 all output 3volts or more. i havent gotten a chance to test it with gasoline running but he assures it doesnt misfire with gasoline and the gasoline map loaded. any help would be appreciated.
btw, when coils are swapped around, its the same thing, cylinder 1 seems to not be getting a strong enough signal to spark.

Several people on here as well as myself run E85 with Kpro and K20 with no issues, so any relation to the fuel is purely coincidental. You might try taking a known good gasoline tune and simply dialing in ~20-25% more fuel in the 'Overall Fuel Trim' - this should get you close enough to test on E85. See if that known good tune works. Might also take a look at the cylinder fuel trim and make sure no wild value is entered for cyl 1.

Otherwise (and most likely with a swap) is a wiring issue.

PS - Buckle your seat belt! Properly tuned and on E85, that is going to be a wild ride!
