Just bought a Kpro Cannot get car to start.

Post by solidrk881 »

I have searched the forums and tried the following to remedy the problem of my car not starting with the new kpro i just got. Made sure the Kpro enable immoblizer icon was unchecked. Cleared security turned off waited one min. reloaded stock tune. Car still doesnt start. Tried different computers one win 7 one win vista. tried different usb cables. Tried several tunes. All just sputter a tad at first and never turns over after that. When stock ecu connected works fine. This is all for a 02 Rsx type s. Kpro is PRB. Mods OBX RH. RBC mani SRI ANy ideas? The last thing i can think of is have my immobilizer reset to the kpro. Or take off the immobilizer. I attached the tune i would like to start out with as my base

After uploading the calibration with the immobilizer disabled you must turn the ignition completely off then back on and it should start. You also need to make sure that your basemap is suited to your vehicle.

unplugged imobilizer still wont start. Could this just be a issue with the kpro? How much is it to get it looked at? Because stock tune doesnt even work when loaded.

What is the serial number of the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

Go thorough and write down step by step as you do it, exactly what you are doing and post it here.

05003285 is the kpro board serial. I will go try everything again and write it down.

This K-Pro is 3 years old, not new. Since this is obviously used it is very possible that you have purchased soemones damaged K-Pro/ECU. If you cannot get it to start I would recommend trying to get your money back from the seller.

Green Light

Post by solidrk881 »

I get the green light on the kpro when ingnition is on so it should be working correctly according to your troubleshooting codes. It just is not getting anything from the fuel pump it seems. Any ideas what would make it not communicate with the fuel pump?

The ECU is probably damaged and would have to be replaced. This is why you should look into getting your money back.

One last thing

Post by solidrk881 »

Thanks for all the help. One last thing. I am by trade a computer tech and when we opened up the kpro during the sale to verify a true kpro i noticed the programmer board was sliding off the pins so i made sure to touch the outside of the case to discharge any possible static and proceeded to push it back down by the usb connector and the 2 corners that have no circuitry around them to seat it properly and did not touch the ecu at all. He said i probably broke it then but as someone who handles ram and motherboards all the time i made precautions to specifically avoid any damage. I just wanted to confirm this more then likely did not damage it.

repair

Post by solidrk881 »

I could not get a refund so I was wondering what the process would be to send it in for repairs.

Have you tried a known-good stock ECU to make sure it's not something else that's wrong?

AFAIK, Hondata will work with you to fix their daughter board, but if the ECU itself is bad, they can't help with that.
