Knock retard vs knock count?

I know that the values in the knock sensitivity table will not change the knock count. If that is the case, what does it (knock tables) do ?
Does it affect knock retard? How does the ECU determine the knock retard?

this topic has been discussed before. look up in this forum regarding the relation of the knock tables n knock retard.

ok. Got it. So knock retard is there as a long term adjustment as the ECU is anticipating knock in that region based on earlier knocks. The key is in avoiding knock as much as possible in order to avoid ECU retarding the ignition.
