Hi there, first time poster with a question.
I've had the overheating code come on every now and then. We did have a problem with the S2000 overheating after installing the ITB with Kpro but that was fixed by removing the water pump and fixing that. We bled the coolant system after that and the car ran fine with no overheating.
Sometimes during my drives, the CEL comes on with the code P0217 Engine Over-heating. The car would jump from 3 bars to 4 bars, sometimes taking it as far as full overheat. Now the first time this happened, I pulled over and inspected the coolant system and everything was fine. The car wasn't actually overheating, seems like a false code to me. I jump back in the car, start it back up and the the CEL disappears and the temperature bars start going back to a normal 3 bars.
I clear the code and assume all is fine. Now the other day, the car did this same problem again. I was cruising downhill so I shut the car off and start cruising in neutral for about 5 seconds. Start the car back up and again, the CEL disappears and the temp bars revert back to a normal 3 bars.
I would like to also add that during the time Hondata is showing over-heating, I have no heater available. The vents will continue to blow cold air until I clear the problem and then the heater may or may not come back on. If the vent is still blowing cold air, the over-heating ghost will likely reappear again in the near future. If the vents start blowing heat again, I won't see this over-heating problem for a while until I lose heat again and the CEL etc. starts to happen.
Another tid-bit is, during a cold start, my temp gauge would right away start off at 5 bars. It will start going back down to 1 bar and then start reading properly afterwards.
Is there a solution to this problem? I'm certain the car isn't over-heating. This is the only code I'm getting from the KPro, no other code has come on. I'm sorry if this sounds confusing, I'm trying to explain as best I can without confusion. And sorry if I posted in the wrong forum.
Thank you for your help
