I bought a used S300 for $80 shipped on a car forum. The reason for the price was there was a burnt trace on the S300 board. I figured it was a good deal IF i could get it to work. This is the Seller's story:
His friend was testing some sensors with the car running and grounded out a wire and the car shut off. the seller believes it was the TPS or Map sensor that his friend was testing. the ECU in the car was fried and the car would not start. they removed the S300 and placed it in a working ECU. the car started and they could see the .cal file on the S300 but could not upload to it. that's when they saw the trace was burned. I fixed the burned trace with a with a wire. As you can see in the picture below. the 2 pins highlighted with red dots show continuity. If someone could check for continuity between these points on a working S300 to verify this for me it will be much appreciated. I ordered the s300 install kit from xenocron.com until it arrives I will not be able to test it in an ECU.
I tried it out and the fuel pump does not prime and the CEL stays on. if I remove the wire I soldered on the fuel pump primes but of course the car wont start since the s300 does not have the correct fuel map programmed for my car. I can connect to the ECU with my laptop, the s300 manager says online and I get a green led on "D2" but I can't upload or download to the s300. I've tried contacting hondata but all they give me are the run arounds. one customer support tech told me to try contacting an authorized dealer but the closest one to me will not even answer the phone. What do I need to say for them to let me send the damn thing in? I don't care if I waste $100 to find out they can't repair it. has anyone ever had their S300 damaged in this way before?
