When posting a KPro problem with your vehicle, please include:
- serial number of your K-Pro
37820-PRB-A06 2068-609057 (37820-PRB-A06 2068-609057)
- KManager version (not 'the latest')
1.4.0.0 Feburary 2010
- the calibration (as an attachment)
(See attached)
- a datalog of a problem (as an attachment)
(See attachment)
- what sort of vehicle you have
2003 Acura RSX Typs-S Stock CAI (HIMOTO catback I think)
- what sort of ECU you are using
?K Pro'd Stock?
- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU (don't include what sort of rims you have nor stereo etc).
I replaced both primary and secondary O2 sensors. Primary was throwing another code and replacing it solved. Replacing the secondary did not however. I have done everything in the repair manual short of swapping ECU's with a known good. The replaced O2 sensor reads slightly under 10 ohms, (so did the original). this is just out of spec...
- a specific description of the problem
I can't get this code to go away. 2nd O2 htr circuit has voltage and is not shorted to gnd. ECU wire to sensor and back again are ok. O2 sensor is generic replacement but all brand new tested at parts store at just under 10 ohms (so did the
bad
one I removed, same as mine.

Most of the recent posts leave out information pertinent to solving the problem.

Have you tried the ECU in a known good vehicle?

That's a great idea... Infeasible at the moment.

I would love to do that... But I don't have any spare Type-S's laying around =) I do have another (unmoded) ECU but it is not coded to my key/immobilizer and so does me no good. I am not sure what the factory manual means when they say "replace the ECU and recheck" as a step in troubleshooting. Are they re-keying the system each time just to check this? If you know of anyone who wants to let me try my potentially broken ECU in their 02-04 Type-S (or another way to check this) I would be appreciative. Otherwise I seem to be stuck...

Oh yeah, I'm in Orlando Florida near the University of Central Florida... (Just in case)

Also... When Acura "re-keys" are they changing the ECU to match the key and Immobilizer? I.E. Could I pay Acura to rekey just my ECU to match my existing key and immobilizer (and still have my K-Pro'd ECU)? Or would they change the immobilizer and/or the key as well?

If they could somehow make my spare ECU match my original one then I could swap them in and out at will.

Thank you for the assistance!

This is not something we can test here, so you will need to find someone with an 02-04 RSX or 02-05 SI. This is the only way you can test this. You could get another ECU but you will have to pay to hav ethe immobilizer matched then the immobilizer will no longer be matched tot he ECU you are using.

Disable OBD-II Ambiguous

Post by taohawaii »

So I called an Acura service department near here to ask in a round-about sort-of way if I could put my ECU in one of their cars. No. But the tech did seem very knowledgeable and insisted that I replace my secondary O2 sensor (a second time) with an OEM one. I found a local company selling them for $40. (Yes actual OEM.) Eurika! It is in the mail.

I also selected the disable OBD-II checkbox in kmanager and uploaded the changes. At first I thought this would put my car in open loop but there is a different setting for that. Then I thought this would disable OBD-II datalogging or something else important. Um, till I read where it says (right next to the setting) that this isn't true.

Good news is I have a brand new secondary O2 sensor on the way, AND my super awesome K-PRO allowed me to turn off the stupid CEL (so I can use it to warn of knocks and such)! Woohoo. I will install the OEM and re-enable OBD-II just to see if it works.

I do have one further question... What exactly did I disable when I unselected the OBD-II checkbox... I hope nothing important that will prove detrimental later.
Edit: Looks like 2nd O2, Fuel Tank Pressure, Atmosphereic Pressure, and Electrical load, (anything else?). With this disab;ed:

1) Will my evap canister still work on startup?
2) Why does my car need to know atmospheric pressure when it has an IAT sensor?
3) Will my engine attempt fuel correction for air temperature (pressure)?

The O2 sensor didn't fix anything... Oh well. Just driving around with ODBII disabled for now.
