Gear Ratios in calibrations

Post by llms07 »

I have a stock obd1 b16a with a s1 cable transmission. I have ran the motor with a stock p30 map with stock b16 s4c gear ratios and stock ls s1/ys1 gear ratios and i havent noticed a difference between the two. Is there a power change if i set my gear ratios to the b16 s4c ratios vs the s1/ys1 gear ratios? I am currently running the stock b16 s4c ratios on the map even though i have the ls cable tranny bolted to my motor. help please

Gear ratios have nothing to do with power levels. The ratios are just used for calculating what gear the car is in based on Speed and RPM.

so when i go to dyno tune, then is when i want to make sure my gear ratios match my transmission correct? or does it not matter then either?

No,it doesnt matter, now go get your car tuned & enjoy.

If your running boost per gear(which u obviously are not),then u might want it reasonably close.
If u absolutely need dead accurate datalogged gear selection values to ogle over in your spare time, then that might be anothe reason u would want it correct.
In other words....it doesnt matter.....
