Average Coolant Temps

Hey guys, I was tuning my car and one thing I kept my eye on was the engine coolant temp. I'd like to know what your averages are and what is considered "safe".

I have a B18C1 rebuilt and sleeved for 85MM CP pistons. I'm running a Garret GT35R turbo and a halfsize dual-core radiator. Under normal driving (no boost) my coolant temps are around 200-206 degrees.

Is that normal or too high? Also what is your average?

Sounds like your doing ok there, nothing to worry about.

Normal operating temps for a stock motor are like between 80 - 95degC, which i think is about 175-205degF from my very fickle memory,i'll let u do the math to confirm.

Just try stay away from all the low temp thermostats & fan switches etc if u want to try creep the temp down a bit,do it right.

The real test ,especially on a boosted motor is, have u reeled off a few consecutive hot laps in it at the local track yet?

175 to 180 deg F for a full-width radiator, normally aspirated.

190 to 195 deg F for a half-width radiator, boosted.
