Knock Sensor at 0 volts

Post by TheRealTNT »

Thanks in advance for the help. I am running a B18C1 with CTR pistons and a P72 ECU. My S300 reports the knock sensor is at 0 volts pretty much no matter what I do. Is this okay, or does this indicate a problem with my sensor? No error codes are thrown.

If there are no error and it is not retarding the timing from knock then there is nothing to worry about.

Thanks Spunkster. I was concerned that zero voltage meant the sensor or wiring to the sensor was bad (I had to modify my stock B16A3 wiring harness to work with the B18C1 motor). You helped relieve my fears.

FreshDA9: My ECU is a P72 as noted above, so it does support the knock sensor.

The build started with a stock GSR longblock, tranny and ECU. I replaced the pistons with CTR pistons, installed larger fuel injectors, after market intake, DC Sport headers, adjustable cam gears, CTR flywheel, ACT stage 2 clutch and a Honda LSD.

I'm looking forward to spending my tax return on dyno time so I can tune it and see just how much I'm getting to the ground. I also have ITB's, but I have to wait until after I pass emissions testing and get my license plates renewed before I can install it.

Sorry i must have over looked that in the post. engine sounds well put with no knock. when you encounter knock +- 2 degrees of the area (mainly go the opposite direction you went).
