Need help! falling torque after vtec engagement!

Post by Expansion »

Hi,

I can't upload any cal or dyno chart as i dont have info with me. But i can explain.

Engine B20vtec
Cams Skunk2 pro 2
Compression stock
vtec engagement on 5800rpm
engine tuned to 13afr smooth

when vtec engages, torque went up and hit peak torque of 23kg shortly after, at 6200rpm torque took a sharp dive losing 3kg torque and starts to pick up torque and power again from 7000rpm onwards to 8200rpm.

ignition timing has been mapped properly.

why the sudden dip in power? If the cam timing is wrong, why the sudden increase in torque when vtec engages and torque falling sharply from 6000 to 7000rpm and starts to pick up again?

what could be the problem?

1: Vtec not engaging properly?
2: Cam timing? Intake cam retarded?
3: Not enough compression?

This is really puzzling, please help.

If you have knock sensor try to disable it.

Hmm... stock compression on S2pro2.... Set VTEC point to 6800rpm it must be better.
