- the calibration - stock d16z6 s300 cal
- 94 civic ex
- p28
- stock unmodified wiring
- so i installed the p28 w/ s300 into my civic, hooked up the laptop and uploaded the cal. setup my basic settings. A/F was good. as soon as i started driving down my street i smelled something elctrical burning so i immediately shut the car off and unplugged the ecu. opened it up and Q31 was burnt amd broken apart.
Maybe u should change thread title to "P28 started smoking on 1st drive".
Q31 drives the purge solenoid.
Lot of people blow it up by accidently switching the plugs to the IAT & purge solenoid, check that first.
Check the purge solenoid circuit out well while your at it for any other wiring errors or faults.
Maybe your trying to use the purge output to run something else & have wired it incorrectly.
Otherwise did u inspect the ECU when u got it,maybe someone else blew it up for u & offloaded it to u?
Its the solenoid controlled valve that purges the fuel vapours from the charcoal canister into your throttle body.
Look for the vac hose that runs between the canister & throttle body, somewhere along that hose u will find the purge valve with 2 pin wiring plug connected to it.
If the valve is not present, then just verify the wiring is not still incorrectly attached to anything else or damaged/shorted/etc.
Verify this wiring is actually the purge wiring,it usually has like a red wire & a yellow/black wire attached. Yellow/black is power(12V) & red wire runs to A20 at ECU
IAT plug usually has a red/yellow & a green/blue wire attached.
