So, I was datalogging yesterday and I noticed that my ECU was seeing knock, even at idle. It was retarding the timing 8-10 degrees. My J&S safeguard wasn't seeing a thing. It was perfectly quiet.
Anyone know why this is? Could my blower be making noise that the ECU thinks in knock.
I turned the knock detection off and my car is running much better. It feels like it has quite a bit more low end torque. I guess I should have datalogged knock before. I always just looked at the display for the J&S.
It would be nice if the rom editor had a setting to adjust the sensitivity of the knock detection...

My car does something like this too but not at idle, it seems when reviewing the datalogs it looks like when ever the MAP is above .400 bar. the knock sensor sees from 19200 to 25600.
I have never adjusted the ignition(not yet atleast) and when I dissable the knock sensor it drives great. My B16a is NA. I know I have the knock sensor board in my ECU it's a JDM P72 and i have to unscrew it to change chips.
I have heard that a built engine(mine is) may read knock from engine noise. After I built my engine my PR3 ECU seemed to do the same thing but i'm not sure without datalogging. It just seemed to have the same retarded ignition feel.
Anybody have any ideas?
Also it would be nice if even when the knock sensor was disabled the datalogging recorded the knock level. Like the O2 sensor in open loop. No correction just data recording.
