2 step disables by itself. 2002 K20A2

I have a 2002 acura type-s engine with k-pro. The engine has a 2006 SI tranny with the 4 wire VSS sensor installed.
Every time we try to input a 2-step RPM limit it disengages by self after 1 sec or 2 and goes over the inputted rpm 2-step limit.
Any suggestions?
