This happen to me p0016 took me a while to realize the code
Im not saying to erase the code.

Im saying to go to the calibration (the map) go to the sections of the dtc. And deselect the P0016 code (they are like 3 check boxes. ). And upload the calibration (the map). This is something that your tunner can do. The other fix. Is buy a new cam. re install and everything is going back to normal.

The problem here that your getting low mpgs. Is that the engine thinks its out of time. But if you check the chain everything is going to line up perfect. It’s that the sensor in the back of the cam rolled it self a
Little bit and the cam sensor is sending the signal that it’s out alinement.

So the 2 fixes are the only ones I gave you. Like I said if you have a runner I can explain to him what to do.

The way I fixed it was I went to hondata calibration clicked on dtc disable p0016 3 check box and the car has been running fine has power not to long ago went full bolt on e30 and still running fine already been 6 months.

For anyone who found this thread and was about the state of the answers here like I was, this video provides the best explanation I can find about the likely issue with the intake cam.
