What else could it be?

He said i need to load a Hondata map onto my ECU then it will let me datalog.

You need to go to File, New and upload the correct basemap for your application.

I've done that, still no joy, the basemap goes on the ECU, and i can change it, but i can't datalog still.

Could it half work?
i.e. not datalog but let me map it etc?

Or would it either fully work or not?

I'm sick of this software now, not sure what to do.

Are you positive that J12 has been cut?

Yes 100%, i've rechecked it, all about 5 times now.

Would this make it do this?

Troubleshooting common s300 problems. Please follow all these steps.

1. Download and install the latest version of SManager here.

2. Check that the ECU has J12 (US) or J4 (JDM) cut.

3. Does SManager show 'Online' on the bottom left of the window when the ignition is switched on? If not see USB troubleshooting in the SManager help file.

4. Create a new calibration from File->New, adjusted only for injector size.

5. Can SManager upload the calibration to the s300? If you can't upload a calibration, it is the ECU socketing.

6. Can SManager datalog from the ECU? If you can't datalog, then switch the on-board datalogging off, clear the stored datalogs and try again. If you still can not datalog then it is the ECU socketing.

If you get this far, then the s300 is working correctly. Any problems now are caused by the ECU, vehicle wiring, sensors, engine or calibration.

7. Start the engine. Can SManager datalog? If not, check that the plugs are resistor type and the thermostat ground is good.

8. Are there error codes? If so, find and fix the causes.

If the datalogging stops at a certain rpm the cause is electrical interference, usually originating from the ignition system. Check that the spark plugs are resistor type and that either the distributor cap has a resistor or plug leads are resistor type.

Note that the LEDS on the s300 don't tell us anything extra over what we can determine from the steps above.

1. I've got version 1.3 and checked its installed correctly (twice)
2. I've cut J12, however are the UK the same as the US ECU's? (i never got any instructions with it so i followed the 1s on your site) My ECU is the big version not the small JDM type, but could i cut J4 just to try it?
3. Yes it shows as online.
4. Not sure what this means by creating a new file and changing just the injector size, but i have uploaded a map onto there, D16 base map, and then turned it all off and downloaded it from the ECU and it was the map i uploaded.
5. Maybe it is my socketing, but i checked it over and over, would the ECU let me upload and download (all lights work) if the socketing was wrong?
6. No, this is my problem, onboard doesn't seem to work, neither does laptop. However i can't get the engine started now, so the onboard might not work because of this.
Also on the sensor page i can't see the battery voltage etc.

7. As above
8. No error codes, but the EM light is on all the time. Even when the car did/was running.

4. Create a new calibration from File->New, adjusted only for injector size.

That is a very inportant step. You must try this.

Once you have uploaded a fresh calibration try changing the revlimit to 2000 and see if it actually causes a rev limit at that RPM.

Ok i will do that,

I uploaded a base map for a D16, not sure if thats what it means, i'l do that today and check to see if it changes things.

Right i've uploaded a map, and set the limiter to 3k, but i can't get the car to start now.

It sometimes trys. When i'm cranking the wideband turns off, but its showing a 12.8 when it comes back on.

:D

Finally after all this time, i checked all the tracks with a light etc, and the 1 that looked the best wasn't making a contact right.

All sorted now, connected it up, No CEL light, no red light on the Hondata board, (i didn't know this was a warning light)

Car started and datalogged perfectly.

Thanks a lot for your help, now time for some mapping :)
