I would advise against sending an ECU to anyone else at this time. We are working on this and will put info on the website as soon as we have it.

We can jailbreak the 2020 ECU. We just can't do the instant jailbreak yet. There's little point sending to someone else with an unknown process.

So what do I need to do in order to get it jail broken? Mail it in? Please let me know.

We are going to process the jailbreaks on Wednesdays, so the ECU would need to be sent Monday to arrive Tuesday. The ECU would be then sent on Thursday which should arrive Friday in the lower 48.

The instructions and form to fill out are still a couple of days away, and will be on our main website.

Because you're accepting 2020 ECUs for jailbreaks now, does this mean that other authorized companies can do this as well?

I'm asking because my Honda dealership can jailbreak pre-2020 FK8 ECUs. Does this mean that they can follow your process now for jailbreaking the 2020 ECU? I will check with them as well, but I have a feeling that they would only reach out to you with that same question.

You would have to check with the individual dealer to see if they are able to in fact properly jailbreak a 2020 Civic Type R.

I was totally expecting a "no, they can't do that" response, so that gives me a bit of hope. I'll check with the dealership then, thanks.

In case others are curious, my dealership (First Texas Honda in Austin) said they now offer the 2020 FK8 jailbreak service. They essentially have to mail it in, same as what I would do. However, they charge $350 ($50 more than Hondata) but include the labor of removing, mailing, re-installing the ECU and a loaner car. I'm going to go that route this week.

I believe my ECU was received by your team on last Thursday. Does your team typically work on the jailbreak the same day and ship it out the next day? Thanks.

Typically the next day. With the pandemic we often receive shipments at the same time they are picking up for the day.

Sounds good. Should the customer expect an email with the tracking number when it's shipped? Just trying to get a feel if my ECU has been jailbroken or shipped yet.

I can't say for certain because we are mainly working from home.

I seen a video a little bit ago where a guy claimed that the instant jailbreak comes out soon for the 2020 FK8. Can anyone confirm?
