wideband AEM integration

Post by Lotusk20a »

gents

i hope that someone can assist - ive been told that the wideband sensor is the way to go ( im not running a secondary o2 sensor) if i buy the AEM gauge kit can i do away with the standard 4 wire lambda and use this exhuast tapping / boss or is it a case of this runs seperately ? currently the car starts runs and would drive but its showing the MIL light ( application is in a 1969 lotus europa coupled to audi transaxle - loom modified and spliced in ) - is it worth doing the wide band , im told that the current narrow band has no action on the tune of the engine ( just brings up erroe - is that correct ? ) is there a wiring diagram out there for integration of the AEM wide band gauge and system - any help would be appreciated !

We need to know the serial number to know what capabilities it has.

i had major issue with a k-pro supplied by CPL and to be honest the replacement they sent worries the shit out of me ( i dare not attempt any software work on it so its going to TTS for final set up ) , the sn of the new unit is s/n 45973 from the box !
the AEM gauge supplies its own heater circuit to the wide band Lambda so id imagine the heater output is no longer used on the k-pro - the AEM has two wires white and brown analogue outputs which from reading give a 0-5v signal - my question is where do these connect to and is it a matter of switching the heater off and selecting wide band in the manager ?

im really not following you now - its a k20a application ep3 car donor ? simple question really the AEM has a white analogue +ve output and a brown analoque -ve output , do i remove all the original 02 htr and sensor connections and wire these in to the ecu ( which connections do i use ? can i ask why is all this some type of black art ?

yes i believe mine is a PRC code ECU - ive wired the AEM in and have left the old 4 wire lambda hanging - i dont think this ever had heater voltage from the ecu / relay signal ! all i want to know is that i can use the +5v / -5v signals from the AEM to input into the k-pro and hopefully remove the dreaded Mill light !

What model number is the AEM wideband?

You cannot just input the wideband signals into the original wideband wiring.

NEW AEM X-Series Wideband UEGO AFR Sensor Controller Gauge # 30-0300 LSU 4.9 - speaking to peopole the 5V+ signal can be inputted to the k-pro but again the dark art drops in and ypou ask for part numbers for this model numbers - i really wish id gone else where with the ECU - this hondata product has dire support and is fickle at best .

To be able to run in closed loop from an aftermarket wideband you must input the analog signal to one of the analog inputs on the K-Pro board itself
http://www.hondata.com/help/kmanager/an ... sub=analog
http://www.hondata.com/help/kmanager/an ... sub=analog
http://www.hondata.com/help/kmanager/an ... b=wideband

You must choose the AEM 30-0310 in the analog input selection.

I see this is the lead that came with the K-pro from CPL Racing ( they told me i wouldnt need it ) - they told me lots of things !! thankyou makes sense now , can i do away with the original narrow band sensor and the relay and wiring then and run it with the wide band via the analogue inputs then ?

I wouldn't go removing anything with the narrow band as it can still be useful for troubleshooting and once removed is very difficult to put back. You can run in closed loop with the aftermarket wideband using the analog input.
