s300 and p30 ecu, itb's, etc.

Post by K I L R O Y »

I am running (or trying to run) a b16a2 with twm itb's and a #57300 competition cams setup and have a few questions.

1. I know the Hondata site states that the jdm ecu's can't be used with an s300 because of the smaller case. Are the physical dimensions of the case the only problem, or are some required internal components missing? I own a machining and fabrication shop, so modifying the case itself would not be a problem if that's all it is. Just wanted to be sure before blow $200 on ebay for a USDM ecu.

2. Is there a tune avaliable that would get me somewhere in the ballpark with this setup before i take the car to have it tuned.

3. Does anyone know of a tuner in NC, SC, or GA that is good with ITB setups? This is a road race car, and not a drag car, so I'm concerned with more than just WOT.

Oh yeah, I am really glad to see the TPS features added to the s300. Thanks for making my life alot easier. :D

Ok then, i'll answer some of my own questions now:

BalancedPerformance in Sugar Hill, GA has experience tuning road track hondas and is a Hondata distributor.

Also, I bought a USDM P28 ecu because i found a good deal on one.

I still would like to know if the incompatibility of an s300 with the JDM ecu's is due to space limitations in the smaller case, or if it is due to differences in the electronics. :? Mainly because I would still rather use my p30 that I know works right rather than this used p28 of unknown origin.

The s300 will not fit inside the JDM frame. Electrically there is no problem. However it is not just a matter of grinding off a few bits from the frame - the relationship between the 28 pin and 4 pin sockets is different.

So would it be possible to put the s300 in a box like the s200 and run wires to it from a JDM ECU?

All I want is the features(Mainly USB and built in Datalogging) of the s300 without having to buy a USDM ECU.

Not recommended. The wires have to be as short as possible to reduce the chance of interferrence.
