ecuworkswith j1 cut, otherwise fuel doesnt prime and pinging

Post by MarkC1500 »

Hi,

I recently purchased a P28 ECU with hondata S100 installed. It is second hand and originally came from a civic with h22a conversion. I am using it in a Euro '97 accord.

My problem is that sometimes when i turn the ignition on the check engine light stays on and the main relay does not click over, which means no fuel starts pumping. This is completely intermittant. I can go to it sometimes and it will start striaght away. Sometimes I have to wait upto 5minutes for the relay to click over.

I put the old ECU for the old 2.0 engine in and everything does what it should. This shows that it is the ECU causing it.

EDIT: I have cut J1 in my ECU to run the engine on stock maps etc, this has stopped my pinging and cured my fuel/starting problem explained above.

So... Does this point at wrong maps being used? Do i need to get the chip tuned for my car?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest reburning your map, or using a new basemap and retuning.
