Prelude CPR install question

Post by toanzh22 »

Hi,

I've recently purchased and installed the hondata cpr kit.

The vehicle is a 1999 prelude with the S300 in a OBD1 p28. Distributor installed right now is a OBD1 with an external coil.

I followed the installation instructions exactly. The problem I found is that the 4pin connector on the external coil needs to be plugged in for the engine to start. With it disconnected, the engine will not start.

Any particular reason for that? The red and green wire is wired to the 2-pin plug off the distributor.

You need to trace the wiring form the coil to see where else that power is going as it sounds like it might be where you are getting power for the CPR as well. IF that is the case you may need to alter your wiring a bit.

I do not know if you figured it out yet but the way I learned to go without the External Coil is to put a 30 Amp fuses on the connector instead of plugging in the actual coil. This has been stated on the CB7*****.com website when doing the H22 swaps. If you need the info it is located on the Swap FAQs on CB7*****.
