Kpro not being picked up by laptop anymore

Post by Girn »

Long story short, had a cel light come on, found it to be primary o2 sensor. Replaced o2 sensor then pulled ecu fuse for two minutes and put back in. Still got a cel light, then tried to connect to laptop and not able to connect anymore. It just stays "offline", using a mirror I can see a green ish orange light emitting from the ECU. And I notice that the input for the cable on the ECU is a little wobbly. I remember the last time I had similar issue and had to watch the laptop as I adjusted the cable around to get it to connect. But now after spending a half a hour it won't pick it up.

This is on a 02 rsx, got kpro back in 2009-2010. Running NA

Update KManager, then on the laptop follow the USB troubleshooting.

Just went out and tried that after updating, no success unfortunately. The ECU won't connect to the laptop no matter what I try.

Is there anyway I can test the USb input on the ECU itself? By removing the ECU and taking a peek at it. Or any other troubleshoot tips perhaps? I doubt try a different laptop will solve this as I don't think it's the laptop itself

Open the Windows Device manager and when you plug in the USB to the K-Pro it should refresh the window. When it does, find out what is changing and what the K-Pro is being listed as in the device manager window.

Thanks, I'll try that this weekend on a different laptop and give my results

So it doesn't work even on different laptop, no response from ECU when ignition turned on. Tried wiggling the cable as much as I could, looks like the the cable input on the ECU is hooped. What now?

It's not refreshing the Windows device manager at all? The windows device manger is not part of the Hondata software.

It doesn't even register :( I think it's the actual port on the ECU itself

What is the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

Got the serial number and found the pins to be bent, tried by Best to get them back to proper form to no success. Still won't read. I guess it was bound to happen being that the port is in the back and you can't really see what ur doing. Hopefully it can be replaced with a revised port that isn't as susceptible to this. Please see attached picture for serial number.

That is still not the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU.

When you say there are bent pins, what pins do you mean exactly?

The port on the kpro where the supplied USB cable plugs into. One of the 4 copper pins was bent inward.
