Ecu powers up but not Kpro

Post by sergiokazoom »

So just recently ive been diagnosing my turbo ep3.....

It runs SUPER lean upon startup and doesnt get better.... when it does the kpro board does not turn on any lights and my laptop or tablet doesnt recognize the kpro....

Sometimes it will startup just fine and when it does the kpro board green light comes on and i can also connect it to kmanager on laptop and tablet with no problem, Thats how i know the car runs and drives good.... i can do a pull and drive it like no other day.... no green light and it runs like shit...

Grounds i have are Tranny to chassis, timing cover to chassis, battery to intake mani bolt, and battery to chassis, and valve cover bolt above injectors (downstar nut on valve cover)

I do have a charging light on but battery is 2 weeks old (pc680) and alternator has been tested good as well. Battery under pass. Side headlight and fuse box in glove box compartment. 6 gauge wiring all around

There is a ground / wiring problem. You can confirm this by swapping the ECU into a known good vehicle. Also the charge light shows that something is wrong.

Do not plug in the USB cable until you fix this, otherwise the ECU will ground through the USB and laptop and burn out the KPro/ECU.

Would a upgrade from 6gauge power and ground to per say 4 or 2 gauge work better? Its as if main ecu powers up but kpro isnt receiving enough power to power on. What pins should i check to see voltage going to ecu and/or kpro board?

All grounds verified good with minimal to no resistance. Cleaned them and theyre nice and shiny

Check pins 2 and 4 on the A connector for power and ground.

Will do..... And also... At one point i had two wires switched up on flex fuel sensor.... I accidentally put the flex fuel sensor signal wire (NOT the 12volt) on the ground in kpro ..... Would that be enough to damage the ecu??
The reason why is because the pigtail had the wrong color markings per instructions which contradicted the output markings on the flex fuel sensor
