rev and ign cut randomly

Hello, I'm trying to help a friend out with his car.

I cant find anything in the logs that tells me why its cutting out.

The car randomly cuts out and I see Rev limit and ignition cut
Hondata s300
hondata COP
built engine
Turbo 6266.

Try disabling on board datalogging and see if the same problem persists.

We gave that a try today, Same problem.

So Ill give you some back ground on the car, might be related, might not be.

So spring time he took the car down (it ran good, no problems.)

He changed the Turbo manifold, Intercooler, Installed hondata COP, Installed fuel cell with 044 pumps.

Car ran good for about 10 Pulls (down the drag strip), then started have this ign/rev cuts.


Soo, We gave me ecu a try with no luck, Can it be COP related?

Is there any way to see whats triggering the ign/rev cut?

Most likely related to the CPR setup. What is the part number for the spark plugs you are using. Are they resistor or non-resistor type?

Bkr7e NGK resistor type, what do I need to test and how?

I would start by borrowing a different distributor to see if the problem is related to that (should be an OEM distributor, not aftermarket). Also try a different ECU as we have seen some ECUs cause issues.

Alright We tried my Distributor (oem) , my ecu.


We changed engine harness (last one looked a little beat up)
Changed TPS
changed alt
changed battery


Sounds like he getting ready to part out... So It would be nice to get it figured out before he gives up.

Anyway, We are trying to find a stock Dizzy to bypass COP all together, But I honestly ran out of ideas.

SO is there any way to see whats causing the ecu to turn on IGN and Rev ?

No, there is nothing you can see that shows the cause. All you can do is try process of elimination until you narrow it down to something specific.

Normally it is the ECU getting a bad signal from the distributor, and it will rev limit without a code. Also I see your battery voltage is dropping too.
