With the mac solenoid hooked up and running at any tested (so far) PWM/hz combo I can't get the gate to open under any setting. I have checked my basics. The solenoid is new. It operates at different frequency ranges with different test out put settings. and I have it plummed correctly (1 from pressure source 2 to turbo 3 vented). I can blow on 1 and when testing it passes through pretty unabated.
There is one anomaly I cant explain that doesn't jive with the rest of the internet. it seems my testing is reversed from what the "internet says" it should be. From my understanding my max boost setting should be at 100 percent duty and my min should be at 0 or 1 k. however when I test through the out puts I have the most flow at 100 percent and the least at 1 percent. Is the test out put reversed from the vehicle?
Also the other thing is that I don't always get exactly the same PWM as commanded. I will sometimes get 99 when commanding 95 or something to that effect.
all of my testing has been at fixed duty cycle.
also lets assume for now that HZ is not the problem. I have tested at a range of different HZ's from 25 to 60.
Thanks guys
Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Do you have it set as normally open or normally closed?
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Normally closed.
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
I'm curious. Why is that even a definable option in smanager ? What difference does it make to the software? If duty cycle is a mapped by the user to a given boost amount, then why would it matter if the ecu knew what state the solenoid was in at rest. Or where maximum boost was.
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Because normally open and normally closed operate inversely.
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Yes, I understand open and close are inverse of each other. but what does that have to do with the pulse width being sent from the ecu? 80 percent is either 80 percent open or close. That arrangement is defined within the parameters of the pressure vs. duty cycle map. Why does the selectoion matter?
Do you have any ideas as to why I wouldn't be able to run spring pressure?

Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Are you seeing any duty cycle form the boost control in datalogs?
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Yes. It's out putting commanded PWM. But it's switched from what it is supposed to be.

Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
Then something is not plumbed correctly if you are not getting any changes in boost level.
Re: Unable to run pass through with PWM and MAC solenoid
i can remove the controller and put in a splice and it runs wastegate spring.
