I have an s300 v1 in my hands (serial 12,996) that seems to have a dead battery according to various forum posts I've read over the years. Problem is, I can not figure out for the life of me where the battery actually is on this board. I'm quite skilled in micro electronics, and I see nothing even remotely similar to resembling any form of battery. Does it actually have an integrated battery? Or is there something else on the board that fails, and saying the battery died is just the easiest way to say the board is bad? Is the battery somehow built into the large chip with the hondata sticker on it?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

according to that you need to replace the unit or upgrade to a s300 v3

Re: s300 v1 dead battery
The battery is internal to the large chip. It is encased in resin and cannot be replaced. The large chips have been out of production for a long time and cannot be sourced to replace them. All replacement chips you find for sale now are outside the manufacturer sales channels and are almost guaranteed to be counterfeit.
