Help with K-Manager Parameters

Post by K20EG »

I have a USDM K20A2 setup in a 93 EG all stock. I attached .pdf file, but could not upload due to allowable extension so I changed it to .exe. After downloading the file, change extension to .pdf.

I have my parameters setup in K-Manager and have a few questions that you guys can help me with.

1. Under the VTEC Options, does the VTEC oil pressure switch enabled box be checked? I read under the help options that with the JDM K20A type-r motor this option should be disabled.

2. Closed Loop, Is it ok to run close loop regardless of climate change? If you look at the the datalog sheet 14 my AF is 28.76:1 at 899 rpm idle. When I switch to closed loop it jumps to 38:1. Is this normal AF mixture or is there something wrong with my primary O2 sensor? Where should the AF be at closed or open loop? What would you recommend open or closed loop for a daily driven car.

3. Idle, Where should my idle speed be set at? Is it ok at 900 RPM? Where should the idle valve duty cycle adjustment be at?

My main concern is the primary O2 sensor. I don't know if 28:1 AF is correct? What are normal AF at idle?

Any answers or recommendations are welcomed.

I'm just learning on the kpro as well, but on mine, in my usdm rsx with k20a2, when I run in closed loop, the idle a/f stays around 14.5-15 always... generally sticking right under 14.7. I would think that 28:1 is wrong for idle. What are you measuring your a/f with... the built in primary o2 sensor (which is a wideband) or a different system. Keep in mind that the secondary and primary o2s that came with the k20a2, in the rsx at least, are different. Make sure you haven't got those wired wrong (if that's possble, I think they might have apposing harnesses if I remember.

Personally, I'd probably throw on a base map, say stock rsx type-s or civic type-r (depending on what intake / exhaust manifold/header you are using) and datalog some open loop idle a/f and check it against another wideband to check the validity of your o2 sensor. Generally speaking, the base maps that came with the kpro have zero degree low cam set a bit rich since it's the 'error' and 'startup' cam as well, or at least so I've heard.

I'm using the primary O2 sensor I got with the motor. I pulled both O2 from the header and exhaust piping. The primary O2 sensor wire is shorter than the secondary O2 sensor. I even went out and bought new one from Acura. I know for sure that the primary and secondary O2 connectors are different and can't be interchangeable. I would hate to put the new one in and get the same AF numbers. Is there a way to check and make sure that it's bad? Also is it better to run in open or closed loop?
