what do i do about this idle problem

Post by 93vxb18c1 »

have a 93 vx hatch with a 2000 b18c1 in it and im haveing the same problems. i have an bouncing idle that is really bad and some times when i start the car the idle jumps up to about 3 grand and doesnt come down. my tach doesnt work either we have check everything and i dont know what the hell i wrong. we havent messed with the timeing or anything like that we just put the engine in and started it up and it runs like shit. im starting to get to the point i just want to sell the damn thing but ive put to much time and money into this car to get out now. somebody please help before i push the car off a cliff and start over

i also have stock injectors and i running a p72 ecu. when i started it up last night after i plugged up one of the left over vaccum it idled a little lower this time but as soon as i hit the gas it went up as it should but then came down very slow and then the bouncing idle started up and it would rev high and drop and keep doing that over and over. i have no clue why my tach doesnt work. i thought we hooked everything up the way it should be but i guess not. anybody have any ideas. also when i get on the gas when im driving it still stutters before it takes off. i have a crack in the hose under the intake manifold that puts coolant in the IM but i dont know what hose it specifically is and i dont know if it has anything to do with the idle problem or the stuttering. im getting that fixed first thing. but can anyone help me out with these problems

1. You need coolant flowing through the IAC valve for it to work properly
2. ANY vacuum source not connected will cause a bouncing idle
3. It sounds like not all the sensors are connected? A P72 sould have no idle probelms
4. check the IAC valve functionality by unplugging it during idle. If the idle does not change, it's not working
