AFR will not stabilize

Post by speedracer79 »

I have an AP 1 S2000.

My KPRO has been installed for several years.
I use a well know S2000 tuner that has made 3 attempts to stabilize the tune on my car.

The AFR will not stabilize and when starting from a dead stop the car will lean out and hesitate.

When running at any speed in any gear at a constant speed the AFR will not stabilize.

So far I have changed Fuel injectors, Coils and plugs. The car is NA.

What is the next step?

The changes are as follows.

- The car used to have a turbo,
- The greddy turbo was removed and taken back to NA, The car was retuned to NA, still had larger injectors, Greddy MAP sensor.
- Car ran fine for 2 + years,
- After track day had a short in the electrical system ( the accessory plug) that was repaired.
- Car ran fine for some time,
- Much later, the car began to buck under steady throttle at speeds around 60 mph
- Changed plugs, coil packs, fuel injectors.
- retuned the car, Still bucking.
- reloaded Kpro software, updated the base tune, retuned,
- THe bucking stopped but it developed an unsteady AFR with broad swings in AFR.
- Also developed a low throttle low RPM flutter and fluctuating AFR.
- Changed the MAP back to stock and retuned the car.
- Ran okay initially, however, the Broad swings in AFR redevelop and causes problems/ low AFR readings when starting from a standing start.

So, since it started bucking, several things have changed, to the best of my memory, the AFR issue began when the new base map tune was down loaded.

I have two theories,

1) The short damaged the KPRO and it needs to get fixed,
2) there is a a bad sensor somewhere causing swings in AFRs.

Three trips to the tuner and several parts later, its not yet fixed.......

So far:

1) I am not able to download the calibration from the ECU. I did not tune the car. I am not able to find the instructions that allow me to download from the ECU.

2) The current log I have is too large to upload,

3) the screen shot for the datalog that shows the problem is in my first post,

What are you doing to try and download the calibration from the ECU?

What is the serial number that is on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?

I plugged in the computer in the ecu and attempted to find a command to download the calibration.

I will need to pull the ECU to look at the board. It may take a few days.

You need to also post a datalog showing the issue.

#1

First example 1:50

Second example 2:10

Just after beginning to move, the AFR shoots up under moderate throttle input. Then the car bogs down.
