Something funky with my S300
Here's some facts that may help you help me
Virgin OBD1 P72
Hondata S300 socketed by me
Tuned by Church automotive
During tune
- datalogging not working. Tuner had to do a pull, shut of car, make adjustments and upload to S300 did this for 4 pulls on dyno. We changed spark plugs and checked grounds all seems ok. Both green LED's are lit on S300 board. Datalogging works "sometimes." Last pull, it was working.
Present
- When I start my car, I check that logging works with Hondata Mobile. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't. Hondata Mobile seems to "freeze" most times and doesn't get any reading from any sensors. When I plug into laptop, SManager reports it being "Online." I can upload a file when the ignition on (engine off).
I'm not sure what the problem is. Thanks for your help.

Is J12 cut inside the ECU?

Re: Something funky with my S300
Hi. Yes. J12 is cut/removed. Everything is up to date as well. I downloaded the latest version of smanager which apparently uploaded new firmware to S300. Reading another post, I uploaded the config to s300, saved it onto laptop, then uploaded it back to S300.

Can you tell me exactly what you clicked when doing this as I'm not exactly sure what you may have done here.zerovandez wrote: I uploaded the config to s300, saved it onto laptop, then uploaded it back to S300.
Have you tried this ECU and s300 in a known working car to see if it will datalog correctly then? What is the serial number that is on the s300 board inside the ECU?
Post pictures of the inside of the ECU, showing the bottom of the ECU where everything has been soldered.

Are you using resistor or non-resistor type spark plugs?

Re: Something funky with my S300
Yes non resistor. We changed it on dyno day as a troubleshooting step.
So lately, the issue has not been happening. Ive been able to get live feed from hondata mobile consistently.
Today i plugged in a laptop and enabled the data logging and looked at the table view. I see red lines flickering in the virticle and horizontle axis. I rev the engine a bit but the numbers doesnt change, its just this pretty little colored square move around. If i go to the sensor view, its live data is like hondata mobile. Is this normal operation for data logging or is something wrong?

You must use resistor type plugs. It sounds like your problems are from running non-resistor type plugs.

Re: Something funky with my S300
I'm sorry that I don't know the actual answer but at Church Automotive, the tuner (Sean) had pointed out this issue with spark plugs. He switched out the plugs to what is required by Hondata to operate properly.
So at idle, are the numbers in the chart/graph supposed to change in SManager?

What are you clicking in the software to begin datalogging?

The thunderbolt icon. After that, i click on random parameters and notice a few of the boxes flashing.

Is the information in the sensor list reading correctly?

Re: Something funky with my S300
Yes it is. Just the numbers in the table view doesnt change at all at idle while reving.
Re: Something funky with my S300
The table will not change as those are set values.

Oh i see. Im driving the car today and dont notice any more of these issues. Strange how it corrected itself without any changes.
Will update this thread should there be similar on going issues.
Thanks spunkster!
