Civic rev limiter

Hi. I own a civic 1996 ej9 european model with a D14A4 engine. I would like to remove the rev limiter without replacing the ROM. I heard there is either a resistor or a crystal that you can change to raise the rev limiter. Does anyone know any thing about this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
