Clutch Switch Installation

Post by B18C_EJ8 »

Please forgive the noob question, but can I use the cruise control switch instead of buying/mounting another one? I've removed the cruise control unit from the engine bay because I never used it.

Anyone know which wires to tap for a 98 Civic EX?

Thanks for the help!

The cruise control is normally closed and the clutch switch needs to be normally open.

I read somewhere that I can use the clutch safety switch, but doing so will make it so that I don't have to push in the clutch to start.

Is this true?

You should use the recommended switch form a store like Autozone. The part number is JA413 for a Wells stoplight switch.

If you purchased the 3-step option form one of our dealers, they should provide you with the cable. If you have damaged or lost the cable you can purchase a new one from any of the dealers listed on our website.

i would wire in a togle switch to select where you want the signal to go to. one way to start the car, and the other way to enable 3 step. ;)

The only thing I could find on AutoZone's site was the wells JA4010... I found one at AdvanceAutoParts.com that was from a different manufacturer, but it was still a "stoplight" switch....

Still being a total noob, but think either of those would work?
