VTC P0011 VTC System Malfunction (2002-2004) PRB ECU
Good day,
Im running a K20a2 using a PRB KPROv2 with on board data logging. I randomly got this error code out of the blue. It causes the CAM to stay at 0 degrees all the time. The CAMCMD will suggest values but the camshaft will never leave 0 degrees. Thus i cannot tune any of the other cam angles.
I followed the procedures in the service manual.
1. reset ecu.
2. check for low oil pressure indicator.
3. check if vtc strainer is clogged and clean it. (it was not clogged but i cleaned it regardless)
4. check vtc oil control solenoid valve and clean if necessary. (I cleaned this as well.)
5. checked terminals a3 and b1.
6. check vtc actuator.
The last step was the replace the ecu with a good known working ecu which i did. Of course my fear was that this would be the solution to my issue as it is probably the most expensive option. Upon trying the new ecu the CAM began to follow the CAMCMD as it should and the code was gone. I am wondering how do i resolve this issue?
Can i send you guys my KPROv2 to have it replaced? What will it cost as i do not see a specific solution for my issue on your website in regards to replacing the dysfunctional KPRO with a new one.
Thank You.

Re: VTC P0011 VTC System Malfunction & KPRO
So you are saying this is not always getting this error message? Is this error happening intermittently?
Re: VTC P0011 VTC System Malfunction & KPRO
No i am saying the CEL is now constant. If i reset the code it returns after a few miles of driving. It is not intermittent. Once i swapped the ECU with a known working ECU the CEL went away and the CAM began to once again follow the CAMCMD.
Re: VTC P0011 VTC System Malfunction & KPRO
What is the serial number on the K-Pro board inside the ECU?
