A/F reading very high - Newly swapped motor

Post by Murph706 »

Hi All,

I am having K swap woes and am in need of some assistance.

Car: 99 integra ls
Motor: 07 k24a2 - Stock everything except an intake, header and 3 inch exhaust.
ECU: KPRO V4
Harness: Hybrid Racing DC conversion harness

Issue: A/F reading high (22.3 +) and I cant enable closed loop operation. The car will be used for autocross but id like it to idle well and drive well during driving also since it is also a hobby car.

Background info: I swapped the motor and took it to have it tuned. Tuner tuned the car in open loop and deactivated closed loop operation using factory wideband O2 sensor, told me O2 sensor was bad because it wasn't reading in KPRO (brand new sensor installed with motor). I purchased another denso O2 sensor (RSX type S one), installed and took it back to tuner. Tuner said KPRO still wasn't reading O2 sensor so it must be the wiring. I came home, took pictures and contacted Hybrid. They confirmed that the O2 sensor wiring was wrong and needed to be changed. They provided the following information (note: sensor ground was switched with sensor input and reference voltage was switched with heater control according to the below info):

O2 sensor BLU wire --> ECU A16 (AFS - Sensor ground)
O2 sensor WHT wire --> ECU A6 (AFS + Sensor input)
O2 sensor BLK wire (pin 3) --> ECU A22 (AFSHTCT + Reference voltage)
O2 sensor BLK wire (pin 4) --> ECU A1 (AFSHTC - Heater control)

I re pinned the sensor plug, put everything back together and took it back to the tuner. He told me that it was still not reading any values in KPRO. I hope you can help me.

Attached is a datalog of the car idling for 1 minute. If you need more please let me know. I revved the car (to about 2000rpms once or twice).

Major Questions:

1. Can you confirm the above provided wiring for the O2 sensor?
2. Did the mis wired harness fry both of my O2 sensors and now i need to buy a third?
3. Can you please look at the tune and attached datalog to help me figure out what is wrong?

I really appreciate any help you can give, I have no more resources to help locally that I know of.

You need to try the ECU in a known working vehicle to see if it has been damaged.

Spunkster,

Is it possible for me to pay to have the ECU Shipped to hondata for validation?

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with a car that uses Kpro locally...or at all for that matter.

Thanks,

Ian.

Unfortunately this cannot be tested on a bench. IT will need to be tested in a car. I recommend that you try Facebook or local forums to try and find someone with an RSX or engine swapped vehicle to try the ECU in their car. This will not damage anything in their vehicle and will tell you very quickly where the problem is.

Spunkster,

Thanks for the reply...im pretty disappointed that there is a possibility that my KPRO could be bad considering it wasn't something I did to damage it.

I have posted a request on K20A.org for help. I will update when I know more.

Thanks again,

Murph
