problem with hondata??

Post by b20luda »

this only happens sometimes..im using a fully optioned S200 with a PR4 ECU. when ever i rev the car out near redline only sometimes it will just act like it shutoff.. the ck engine light comes on/flashes and it wont do anything..i can let off and the engine is still running but i try to get back into it again and it acts like its hittin the revlimiter..at first i thought it was boost cut but i diasbled that and it still does it..anyone have an idea of whats going on..also if u cylce the ignition switch or let it rev down to an idle it will go away and u can drive normally again??

It sounds like loose wiring that is agrevated by vibrations at high RPM. Check all your wiring and make sure th interface cable is not crimped or damaged.

I'm having the same problem. I have a turbo car and under lots of boost it will cut right out, almost like I shut off the car. It will throw a CEL but when you go into hondalogger and Check Error Codes it has NOTHING. I have a brand new cable from the interface box to the ECU.

I though t it was the boost cut and I disabled that. I have no clue what it is?

sean, have you caught this with a datalog? '88-91 civics with obdI conversion i've seen similar to this a couple times. ended up being a wire in the main harness associated with the firewall mounted map sensor.

no stored code though?

Could also be an aftermarket ignition system, or aftermarket spark plug wires.

I have had this same problem many times also:

89 civic obd-1 conversion s200b in p28

What could it be with so many with the same problem?

Pre 92 vehicle are not supported as there are many wiring differences and things which we can not anticipate. THis does not sound like a problem with the Hondata software or code, but some random wiring issue on the car. I personally have an OBD1 converted 87 Teg that has no problmes what so ever. Wiring is everything...one incorrect ground could be the whole problem.
