A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
Tried it, and still doesnt work. If I uncheck it, the compressor runs constantly.
Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
From you last reply, I'm unsure if the behavior is different with 'use second coolant temperature sensor for fan control' checked and unchecked. Can you clarify?
Otherwise what you need to do is to start with the working calibration, and import tables and parameter one by one until you either has all the changing imported or identify what the problem it. I'd suspect it is a setting, so I'd import all the tables first and try that.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
Sorry, let me clairfy...
my ac was not working at all after updating my software/flash. I tested out known good tunes - my stock flash allows the ac to function to work normally. Flashed back to Vit's tune, ac did not function at all.
after flashing back to stock and removing the neg terminal for an hour, I plugged it back in and reflashed. Then the ac compressor would not turn off. I went into the cal and checked the "use second coolant sensor" option and reflashed (I got the idea from another board from someone who had the same issue). After that the compressor again would not run regardless of setting.
I would try rebuilding my tune, but I do not want to screw something up in doing so. Maybe when I finally get sick of sweating in the car I will give it a try, slowly.

In terms to my AC issue, here are the specifics of the tune since I was able to get out and do a datalog finally
2008 Si - RS SRI, PLM Header, Vibrant Exhaust, J35
stock computer
FP-SI-US-14706
2.2.6.0 Flashpro version

I'm still having an issue with my a/c. not able to transfer tables over because settings are different and tuner says its the module itself. Ideas?
Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
What calibration type are you using? Load the 'stock tuned' calibration and see if it runs normally.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
I loaded Flash-Pro on my 2007 Acura TL-S for the first time today, uploaded map 07 MT - 02...
took it for a drive to datalog...at the end of my 10 minute session, I decided to turn on the A.C. and I got a burning smell...and nothing but hot air. Mind you, it worked fine for me on the drive home from work and has been flawless since I owned the car.
Is it possible Hondata held something up, or possibly fried something? It's just too coincidental in my mind that my air conditioning is out the moment I upload a base tune.
Please let me know. Thank you,
Jeremy

How would the ECU cause a burning smell? It can only switch the AC clutch on or off. Return to stock, and then diagnose the problem as per the manual.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
I have no idea about the ECU's capability to damage something, that's not my field or experience...my thought was that maybe the included base tune/flash turned something on, or prevented it from turning on when I kicked the A.C. on...Hondata wrote:Occasionally we have seen the AC stop working temporarily after reflashing. The cure is to go back to stock (using return to stock), power cycle the ignition, and then run the car until the AC starts to work (which may take 1-2 driving cycles, including the idle re-learn). Then load the AFM calibration you want. It only happens to about 1/500 people.
I'm not blaming Hondata/Flash-Pro...I'm trying to find a solution.
All I do know is that it's pretty coincidental to have had functioning air conditioning since I've owned the car...never touched the ECU, then used Flashpro to upload 07 TL MT -02 calibration to it...drive it for datalog for 10 minutes during which I turned the AC on and it blew hot air. Especially when I used the air conditioning on my way home from work, about 2 hours earlier...without issue.
I was looking for a little more guidance than "go look at the troubleshooting guide for air conditioning for your car". From the post above quoted, sounds like you've seen some sort of correlation. Maybe I am reading it wrong.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
Oh, and I DID return to stock and drove the car, with no change. Couldn't the tune preventing AC clutch from coming on when I turn on my AC have caused an issue with the compressor/clutch itself?
What are the exact instructions for resetting if I do the factory tune (at this point, I'm on a tune from a well versed flashpro/j motor e tuner...2nd revision. Other than the AC not being on, the car is running VERY strong...I love the Hondata/Flashpro...I just want my AC back. I fear letting the AC run for a long time without the clutch kicking on for fear of further damaging the system.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
If you go to the online menu and use the return to stock function there and the AC still does not work it sounds like it is not the act of reflashing the ECU that has caused a problem. The next course of action would be to check the AC system to make sure there is enough pressure in the system to allow it to run as that is the most likely cause of a problem. The next thing to check would be the AC relay.

Re: A/C Air conditioner does not work in AFM mode
Thanks Spunk!
I checked the under hood relays and swapped over the radiator fan relay on both AC related ones with no change.
I guess it was just dumb luck to have happened during my datalog.
I suspect compressor clutch gave up...I hear something that sounds like a shitty bearing when I engage the AC coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. That would also explain the smell...because it's spinning but not engaging. Just crazy to me that it happened as SOON as I installed the damn tune.
Factory tune made no change for me...maybe I didn't leave it on long enough? Either way...I'm thinking a compressor clutch rebuild will likely solve my problem. South Florida in a summer is brutal, although my drive to and from work are short and fast, so windows down are my usual ride.

good to see other people are having this issue as well.Hondata wrote:What calibration type are you using? Load the 'stock tuned' calibration and see if it runs normally.
as I stated prior, flashing back to stock and a MAP tune, AC functions like normal. I tried resetting the ecu (can't drive on a stock tune) and reflashed back to vit's tune, and the ac will either run constant or not run at all.
