Smanager stops when EBC enabled

Post by PR8urvtec »

I'm having a strange problem with Smanager and BBG.

When EBC is enabled Smanager will stop recording what looks like as soon at it activates.

When EBC is disabled in Smanager I have no problem recording and having Smanager live all the way up the RPM band.

This is the first time using this function on this ECU. Is there a chance that this problem is hardware related?

Thanks,
Ryan

How exactly have you installed the solenoid?

Solenoid Wiring
2 black wire from solenoid

1 wire goes to A11 on the ECU.
1 wire goes to a 12v switch at the fuse box using a blank spade connector (Car is a 95 Integra)

Hose routing with Tial MVS wastegate

Turbo compressor side nipple > T fitting > one end of T fitting goes to bottom port of WG > other end of T goes to port 2 of MAC solenoid.

Top port of WG goes to port 1 of MAC solenoid.

Vent is at port 3 of solenoid.

I posted this on Honda-tech and someone said they had the same problem and it ended up being a hardware installation problem. I'm going to open the ECU and look to make sure all is installed correctly.

I can hear the solenoid clicking when I change always open or always closed and I tested the solenoid before installing.

Basically, I set the min. pressure reading to activate the solenoid and Smanager stops working when I get to that condition. I also noticed that the connectivity is bad when boost control is enabled in Smanager. Meaning, the ECU and my laptop disconnect over and over again. If I disable the boost controller feature in Smanager there is no problem at all. It will datalog and stay live as usual.

Are you using resistor or non-resistor spark plugs?

I believe they are non resistant plugs ngk #8. I have some 7s I could try you think that is the problem.

You must use resistor type plugs.

I'll put the resistor type back in and see what happens. Hopefully this resolves the problem.

Yo Spunkster!!! I tried the output test and when tested the solenoid did start to click but at the same time I lost connection to Smanager on the laptop. I wasn't able to stop the solenoid from energizing until I turned the key off. Even then when I turned power back on it started again. I had to disconnect the wire to get it to stop. After doing that, I was able to connect to Smanager no problem. Do you still think this is spark plug related? The car was not on.

Thanks

Anymore help with this would be awesome. At this point I have no idea what the problem is.

I have changed the plugs back to resistor type plugs with no difference.
I tested the output using the online ft. that was suggested on Honda-tech
Smanager still disconnects and won't work when the solenoid is activated.

Does this appear to be a hardware problem? I need to get this thing working.

Thanks

It sounds like the components are not installed correctly then, but you must use resistor type plugs at all times. From the pictures it looks like you are using very large resistors and the may be touching other resistors and causing a problem.

I'm going to bring it to the shop that installed the components and he is going to look it over. I will report back when I find out something new.

Thanks for the help so far.
