vss frequencies

Post by oxxy »

Hi hondata,

I have a 01 honda civic and im currently swapping it with a k20/k24 setup. I bought the prc kpro4. But im running into dead end because the speedo is not responding. So i got no vtec. I read the article about frequencies of 02-04 and 05-06 vss from the rsx. Then when im about to purchase the vss, again it is branched. One vss is for the type s and another is for the non type s. But both is for 02-04 rsx. Are this vss both the same ? Because non type s means it is not meant for 6 gear transmission. While im using the 6 gear. Please tell me which vss to buy. The type s vss is sc456,78410-s6m-n01
Non type s vss is sc425, 78410-s7a-g01
Thank you so much for the help

Hi spunkster

I am using the 03 dc5 transmission 6 speed. So based on the articles i read here, that i must use a low frequency vss. Thats why i wonder which of the 2 items i should buy. Please advise. Thank you

AS long as you use an 02-04 RSX Type S engine harness there is nothing special you must do. You should you the VSS that comes with that transmission.

So is there any suspection of my engine harness that's not properly installed/working ? So if you say the vss that comes with the transmission is fine, that means basically i dont need to buy any vss, right ? And FYI during swap, i did not install any k swap conversion harnesses. All wiring is done by the tuner himself. While most people uses conversion harness. Is it a point where i should look up to ?
Thanks for the feedback spunkster.

You will need to discuss this with whoever it is that did the wiring.

are you saying the speedo in the cluster is not responding or the VSS readout in kmanager is not responding?
