I have a p72 OBD1 ECU running an H22a, with s200 blue box. I recently have had issues with the interface box cable (like everyone else has) and don't know for sure if my problem is the cable, the box, or my ECU. I don't have the engine in the car right now, but my fuel pump primes so I know part of my ECU is functional. But the problem is that I do not get an LED light at all in either ignition position when I did before. And I can't read the ECU information via datalogging so I know there is no connectivity.
Is there a way to check voltages, etc... on the 4 pins going to the interface box on the ECU board? I assume that the red wire pin should be carrying a voltage in the ON position correct?
Am I missing something here? Any suggestions?
Duane

using some sort of a volt meter, check for voltage across the red and black wires. it should read 5volts or pretty close to it. i would check it from the source that way you know it is not the ecu. if you get the 5v, check the continuity of your cable. if the continuity of the cable is good, it might just be the s200 is faulty. i've had to replace a cap in one and fix two runs that burn up on another.

When I check the red wire, I get 2mV and that's it! I did not change anything to cause this, and that 2mV is right off the p72 board where the interface cable was socketed. There is no reason for the ECU to go bad or for the socket to be a bad connection cause like I say, it was fine before the cable broke. And I metered the cable after I soldered it again to make sure everything was fine.
Hondata?? How much will it cost for me to have you guys take a look at it? And if I send it to you this week, what is the turn-around-time?

You can send the ECU for testing but you need to include a prepaid label for return...It sounds like your ecu is damaged. We do nto repair ecus, so it th eecu is in fact damaged there is really nothing we can do.
If you send the ECU, make sure you include a detailed note describing the problem with your contact details.

one more test to make:
check voltage between the lowest pin on your rom's left side and the hightest pin on the right side (notch is at top). you should see 4.95-5Volts there, also. that will narrow it down a bit more since honda ecu voltage regulators are the biggest cause of failure that we see (next to butcher socketing jobs
) we've repair two with that problem in the last month.

I am in the middle of installing a rev-hard kit on my buddys 97 SH and the S200 shows a slow flashing light...turns out the chip we thought had a base map on it is either blank or the wrong map from the dealer!!
Also, do you know id the car will idle with no o2 sensor in the exhaust stream (just hanging off the car)
Thanks!
