Kpro4 and PLX DM-6 Install US 2005 S2000 PRB ECU

Post by tmartin »

Application - 2005 S2000 with PRB ECU

I have received my upgrade to KPro4 from you guys and I am now going to use a PLX wideband for closedloop operation rather then the stock primary O2. My goal is to use the wideband for datalogging for tuning purposes as well as daily closedloop usage which I hope to benefit from features such as leancut protection.

To meet the above goals I plan to do the following wiring.

I plan to use the Analog input rather than digital input per the Hondata recommendations to meet the above goals.

Question 1 - The PLX has two wiring options. I know you are not here to support PLX wiring but I believe the clarification is something you guys would handle. They have two outputs to the ECU. First being a pin to support if you are replacing a narrowband sensor 0-1v which uses their grey wire or that same wire can be used to support wideband 0-5v output.

Simple assumption but to make sure I am correct Kpro via analog input would only need to have the 0-5v wideband signal to the red wire Analog input on KPro correct?

Question 2 - The KPro Analog wiring harness has two ground wires. Are both ground wires to be used or does it matter? I plan to use the grounding point on the S2000 chassis next to the ECU for both the analog Kpro ground wires as well as the PLX ground wire.

Once the above wiring is completed I suspect I will then be able to see the A0 analog input within KManager once I connect to the ECU.

Next Steps
Under the Analog Tab within Parameters I should see on A0 my PLX wideband which I will setup according to help files.
Under "Closed Loop" within Parameters I will select "External wideband" and pick my PLX wideband
Under "Settings" and "wideband Input" I will select "Use analog input"

I believe with these steps I will meet my goals mentioned above.

Question 3 - Will my goals be met by doing the above? Just want to validate.

Thank you in advance.

You do not need to connect any ground for the analog input. The PLX should only need switched power from the under dash fuse box and a good chassis ground. You then only need to connect the wideband signal from the plx to the analog input you wish to use and set up the input in the software correctly.

Excellent thank you for the clarification. What a super easy install this should be. Thanks again for the info.

Sorry for asking but why not use the digital input instead?
No voltage offset problems and if you ever want to ad any more PLX sensors you already got the communication to the kpro ready.

I am going based off what Hondata recommended for what I am trying to do. I am using the wideband for tuning, closed loop rather than the narrowband stock O2. I believe there were at least in the past issues with digital for using the wideband for closed loop.

I was able to get mine up and running no problems today via analog. Super easy stuff. If I find reason to switch to digital I certainly will but information seems to have to be mended together so I went with what would meet my goals.
