uploading a calabration

I'm new to the smanager software and have a few questions. On my laptop I clicked on the ski file and smanager starts and my calibration is loaded in but the upload button is greyed out so to upload to the ecu i've gone to the ecu info menu and clicked upload from there but is didn't seem to work. Is this the same as pressing the upload button? Why is the upload button greyed out?

If I load the ski file from the vault the button isn't greyed out and I'm able to upload it. Why is this?

To upload you must have the ECU plugged in to the car and the key in the on position. With the USB connected it will then allow you to upload.
