Hitting a boost cut but it not active

Post by mjalaly »

I keep having an issue where when the turbo starts to spool up it immediately cuts out, then i have to lift off the throttle and get back on it. This was an issue before i went in for another tune session last week. The tuners never had and issue on the dyno apparently but it showed up the second i left their shop. They replaced and re-gaped all the plugs because i thought the turbo was blowing out the spark. nope.

I was able to datalog it, i believe, yesterday and from what i can tell, boost cut is being activated on the car when it happens. The issue is there is no boost cut in the program as far as i know. this is something new that has been happening. Also i am using a Profect controller.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

It is because of the speed sensor error.

it has never been enabled as i use an independent speed sensor. so why would it show up just now? Also the check box for "boost cut if check engine code" is not checked. It also doesn't have any consistency with the boost cut. It will cut it at 1lb through 6lbs.

so if it needs VSS, that means Vtec is also not working? VTS looks to be coming on in the datalog

Does someone have an idea of how to get around this?? Will disabling the boost cut off resolve this? I am trying to avoid tearing the car down, removing the harness and wiring something in.

The minimum speed for vtec is set at 0 mph so vtec will engage

Yes I know that but that involves taking my car apart and cutting open the wiring harness. I am trying to figure out a way around it.

I changed VSS sensor out and that didnt work. So i move the ground location for the VSS to the thermostat housing and it solve the problem.

Follow the factory service manual for troubleshooting the VSS error. That should lead you to the proper solution.
