PLX wideband and Kpro 4

Post by conalmcn »

Hi I have recently purchased both for my uk ep3 running pra ecu. I have the gauge more or less wired in and from what I have read on here I need to connect the plx unit to a switched live and a chassis ground. The problems I am having are;

[*]If I use the grey wire from the analogue 4 pin plug where do I connect it to in the kpro

[*]How can I make the unit provide a digital input into the kpro? I have the 10 wire plugs so do I need to make a sterio plug and If so what wires will I need to use

[*]Finally which is better overall analogue or digital? I will be retaining my stock narrowband for running closed loop.

Digital and analog will do the same thing. The difference is how easy or difficult you want to make the installation. Analog would be easiest. You just need to decide if you want to run closed loop off of the PLX or if you want to just use it for datalogging. Once you decide then you can wire it accordingly. Look at the closed loop parameters to see how it can be set up.

My tuner is recommending to run existing narrowband for closed loop and use plx for datalogging. If anologue and digital are the same I'll go with analogue.
So if I run the grey cable from the wideband to the red cable (analogue 0 of the kpro 4 cable) then connect the sensor module of the plx to switched power and ground? Can I use the ignition switch power cable as switched power as that's where I got the power for my gauges and high low boost switch.

and can I use any ground or is it important to use a specific ground? like the grounds from the kpro cable?

Sorry for all the questions just cant see the answers online and don't want to damage anything.

The power source is not critical but the PLX ground must be the same ground as the ECU.

Excellent. Ground relocated to rocker cover now.
