car only runs when USB is connected to PC
I have a JDM B16A OBD0 with a rywire b-series budget harness. I purchased the charge harness, ground kit, and the Chassis adapter and the P28 with the S300v3 already installed. Rywire sent the S300 pre-installed but when I got the package there was 2x ribbon connectors, 1x capacitor, 2x resistors, and 32 pin bar not put in the ECU. I have the OBD1 dizzy, OBD1 02 Sensor and OBD1 stock injectors and I'm not using a resistor box. I downloaded SManager onto my PC, connected to the ECU via USB cord and tried to download a base map of 92-95 P30 B16a and the car fired up with check engine light on, Grounded my grounding wire to count the flashes and had a code 8, TDC.
I don't think that the base map transferred from SManager to the ECU but then again when I downloaded it the Fan from my radiator turned on so maybe it did. So I disconnected the USB from the PC and it won't start. Plugged it back in and it started up again. I think my car is running really rich like it's in limp mode or something.
The SManager display showed -29MAP and that was it. No voltage, A/F, RPM... Nothing. I checked the 12v constant on from the chassis adapter its got 12v and the back up power wire has 12v too. All my grounds are good I already checked those.
With the usb connected to ECU to PC I can see red flashing lights inside the USB port on the P28. What does this mean and why won't the car run under it's own power?

What is the serial number on the s300 board inside the ECU?
From help, about, what is the version of software you are using?
Stop trying to start it or run it with the USB connected until you can get it working with it disconnected as it sounds like it is grounding through the USB and this could damage the s300 or the ECU.

SN 33901 was written on the box. the SN for the S300 is 33900 on a holographic sticker on the top of the chip. I am using the most current Software downloaded from Hondata website 2.4.4.0

Re: car only runs when USB is connected to PC
The ground at the valve cover is doin g nothing as the valve cover is rubber isolated. It must be on one of the studs that hold the valve cover down. The others are hard to see but there should only be 3 grounds
Valve cover
Thermostat housing (very important)
and the transmission

Re: car only runs when USB is connected to PC
the rywire grounding kit comes with 4 one is for the block and the grounds were fine before the conversion and the s300. I took the lid off the ecu and seen that I have a green led lit D3 and D4 one stays on the whole time the other goes off just before the fuel pump primes does this how any thing to do with it?

Re: car only runs when USB is connected to PC
I was getting getting a false reading on the continuity checks on the grounds because the battery to chassis ground was still connected. I have 0 ohms on all the grounds. please give me some info that I can use. Like pin on A, B, C is the ground for the ECU. I am getting 12v power and 12v back up power to the ECU and the lights are on. The car won't start. Help me please. I am starting to think that it's a messed up distributer because at the beginning of this I had a code 8 with the ecu running off my lap top's volts.

The complete ECU pinout can be found in the help file: http://www.hondata.com/help/smanager/ecuconnectors.htm
You should try the ECU in a known working car, and if everything works as it should then you need to start looking at wiring problems in your own vehicle.

Re: car only runs when USB is connected to PC
does anyone care to help me out with this. I have been working on it for 5 days. Its driving me crazy. RYWIRE won't even send me a Schematic for all there black wires plus the chassis harness that they gave me it's not OEM so I can't use a Honda schematic. I know it has to be something with the wiring for the dizzy bc I'm not getting spark http://www.justanswer.com/honda/2nise-9 ... butor.html# I used this website for the color codes and they don't match my TD44U dizzy so I guess I'm stuck with a $700 P28 w/ S300 and a $500 Rywire harness that doesn't do nothing for my car. Thanks HONDATA for all your help. I.E. it must be a "BAD GROUND" LMAO

Our responsibility is for the s300, not the wiring. We've tried to help you by pointing out what area to look at - abuse is not appreciated.
Any replacement harness must follow the Honda schematic otherwise it will not work.
