Will Hondata Fix This?

Post by daboy155 »

1998 Integra LS, getting ready to turbo, full rebuild forged bottom end .2 compression higher(9.4:1), full supertech valve train, stage 2 cams, aem cam gears, all pumps, gaskets new. After the rebuild I'm having a problem with RPM's dropping VERY fast and too low when it gets hot and I push the clutch in or come to a stop, it goes so low the oil pressure light will flash because the pump wont spin fast enough. This only happens once it gets hot. Bearing clearances rechecked and they are fine, new OEM pump in just to be sure. I'm still running the stock ecu, so I'm not sure if it's a mechanical problem or the ECU not knowing what to do with all these new parts. Is there a way to "tell" the car not to let the RPM's ever go that low with hondata s300?
Thanks!

It really all depends on what the cause is. If it is just that there is a lightened flywheel and you need to adjust some of the idle settings then it may help. If it is a mechanical issue then no it may not help.

Is the idle staying low, or is it just a momentary drop?

After I finished my build, the idle would drop below 400 rpm for a split second after I put the clutch in, then go back up to 650 rpm. It would even stall once in a while. Probably due to my lightweight flywheel.

I easily fixed this by increasing the IAC Duty Cycle slider in the Idle tab. Now it drops exactly to the specified idle speed.

Yes I put a lightweight flywheel in there too, it does exactly what you are saying, after I push the clutch in or even just idling it will momentarily drop to like 350-400 and oil pressure drops real fast, then it catches itself and goes up again, that gives me hope then, I'll go ahead with the build and get a good tune.
