s300 civic esi d16z6

Post by tristan1990 »

hi guys ive just joined the forum and this is my first post.

long story short im looking to build the cheapest project car I can to learn to tunning/mapping and the cheapest option to me appears to be buying a civic eg esi, the SOHC d16z6 engine.

Anyway im pricing up parts and im just wondwering if anyone can help me with the ecu choice.
I understand that I would need the s300, which from what i read is simply a modification of the original obd1 ecu with a socket that allows it to be mappable?

my question is other than the s300 ecu what else would i need to run the car and be able to map it (in terms of electronics/fuel management)?

would i be correct in think just the s300, hondata boost solenoid, and a wideband?

if so would any wideband work fine?

and also would i need a new map sensor?

i would appreciate any advice,

thanks,
tristan

To use a Hondata system, you will need to use a compatible OBD1 ecu from the list at http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html . You can then use the Hondata s100 or s300 depending on what options you want (http://www.hondata.com/sproducts.html). I would recommend the s300.

I would recommend one of the widebands from PLX Devices.

Without knowing your plans exactly it is impossible to say what you would need
