D16 Turbo ignition map
Hello, Ive not long bought a Civic with a D16 turbo engine, unfortunately the previous owner did not supply me with the map from the car and subsequently the map was wiped from the ECU by a local garage who connected the Hondata software. I have downloaded a base map from here which I have uploaded and the car starts and runs and I have made alterations to the fueling so it is fueling OK but I need a question answered about the ignition map that I want to clarify with you guys on here before I start doing anything with the ignition map. The AVCR has been set to run up to 1.5 bar of boost but I just want to do a reasonably sedate map just to run at 0.5 bar boost before I take it to a tuner for proper tuning. My understanding is this that for every 1psi of boost pressure the ignition would need to be retarded 1-2 degrees of advance but looking at a 3d version of the map it would look like a mountain with the ignition values going advance and then retarded as it comes on boost, How much difference would I expect to see ignition map from the base map shown here? Also there are the two ignition and 2 fuel maps showing but when you click on to the second one of each it immediately reverts back to the first one?

Under the Options menu, uncheck tables follow VTEC and then when you are looking at a datalog you can switch between the high and low cam tables without it jumping back.

Ok, at what point would the second maps be used?
Re: D16 Turbo ignition map
You do not need to use secondary maps unless you are planning to tune for some other fuel type.

So would it be best to make a map with no boost and then retard the timing in accordance to the boost levels or just build a semi composite map of ignition with a top advance of say 25 degrees?

Re: D16 Turbo ignition map
there is an automated option once you have all the fuel up to 0.4 Inch/Hg manifold pressure tuned you can click on, EDIT-->create boost tables--> and click on retard ignition 0.75 degrees per LB boost, if you want to be safer change that to 0.7 I believe, then look below at fuel tables and click on add fuel under boost and 120% naturally aspirated, boom your map will change and you'll have boost tables for fuel and timing
