The CEL always comes on when you turn the ignition on. This is to let you know that the light has not burned out. It will go off after the vehicle has started if you don't have any error codes.

On the other hand, the OBD system is not able to do a lot of the error checks while the engine is cranking, so the lack of error codes doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have a problem.

Question: Did the engine start before and now doesn't start? Or have you done some work and the engine won't start after the work?

The engine has never started with the s300 ECU. I just received it right before the new year. However, my stock ECU works fine. I had no work done on the engine.

Did you reinstall your stock ECU and the engine started?

If so, then either your S300 is defective, the ECU into which the S300 is installed is defective, or you have a bad basemap.

Who did the S300 installation and created the basemap? Is this someone you trust?

Can your computer communicate with the S300 via the USB cable? If so, you can turn on the ignition (without starting the engine) and see what the basemap looks like. Or you can upload one of the stock basemaps stored in the S300 to see if this makes any difference.

Yes, reinstalled stock ECU with no problems. Engine starts right away.

I had a Hondata ECU with s200 from a Jackson Racing big boost kit and I went through phearable.net to do the s300 upgrade. I mailed this ECU straight to Hondata to do the upgrade as instructed by phearable.net. The basemap titled stock integra gsr is from the SManager. The basemap titled b18c1 bolt ons is from the vault. I just renamed these basemaps for myself.

My computer does communicate with the s300. I did successfully upload these maps into the s300 but unable to start the engine.

I actually was wondering, that since I used a Hondata s200 ECU that is labled obd2b to upgrade to s300, will it work in my 99 gsr which has obd2a wiring? I wasn't sure because the adapter harness on this ECU has all the teeth in all four sections as opposed to the pictures on the following link:

I actually included a note about this on my order form to Hondata with no response.

No that ECU will not work. It will only work on an OBDB vehicle, not an OBD2A vehicle.

Is the only way to fix this is to get an adapter?

You could, but it is not a good idea to use an adapter to adapt an already adapted ECU.
