issues with solenoid/ settings

Post by Jones032 »

hi guys.

having trouble getting solenoid to activate. it has definitly worked previously as my tuner had it working on the dyno last year. for some reason however my boost by gear wouldnt work, only fixed duty. went back to tuner to get the boost by gear fixed and he told me that the boost was now creeping due to wastegate too small/ manifold design.

i however think differently. the boost was only creeping when solenoid was active and it turns out i had the Port1 feeding the side of the gate and the compressor T, and port 2 feeding above the diaphragm.

i have since found out this is the wrong way round and have rectified it. however im still having issues with boost by gear.

i have tested the solenoid (doing what locash said with 0Kpa etc) and i get quick and quite loud audible clicks. so its energising at least....

is my solenoid knackered or is this normal?

more to come on my issues. just working through it bit by bit. need to make sure i actually dont have creep before i visit the tuners again.

ok small update.

copied my my map so i had a copy to work on. we switched the solenoid configuration to max boost at 0% duty and the control method to fixed and managed to get a reaction from the solenoid. it pulled straight to 10psi and hit boost cut when fixed duty cycle was at 10%. i assume as i have switched this it was aiming for 90% of max.

do i have to flip the numbers to accomodate this? as in where 10% becomes 90% where max boost is a 0%?
i dont yet understand how all this solenoid duty etc works. is there a good thread to explain this sort of thing?

sorry if im causing confusion, im a little stressed about it all. all im aiming to do is prove that my solenoid is correctly plumbed in and that i have no creep

if there any screenshots/ logs you would like please tell me exactly what you want shown. will be easier to do once the solenoid is working mind

Do you have a normally open or normally closed solenoid?

got to the bottom of this. solenoid was normally open and my solenoid ports were hooked up wrong way round.

switched the ports and vac around as per hondata diagram and changed to normally closed and seems to be sorted. around 27-32% the solenoid starts working. no more slamming into boost cut!

cheers guys
