[NOVICE QUESTION] What ECU should i buy?

Post by vascorama »

Hello all, i didn´t find a specific area on the forum for general questions, so i had to post here, sorry for that.

I have a 2000, 2.0ies Honda Accord, F20B6 engine and i´m all alone in the internet because i can´t find what ECU should i buy, not even on hondata website my model is listed...

I´m quite sure i must not be the first person in the world with this question, so my post has the sole meaning of maybe, i´ll find someone who knows about it.
Before you ask, the purpose is to fit a turbo on it.

Thanks in advance

It´s a manual transmission, euro version of the accord, like this one: http://bit.ly/1rff3Qj
Thank you

edit: my plate says my car is from year 2000, but i´m almost sure it was made in 1999, i saw that somewhere in the car...

To use a Hondata system, you will need an OBD2 to OBD1 adapter and you will need to use a compatible OBD1 ecu from the list at http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html. You can then use the Hondata s100 or s300 depending on what options you want (http://www.hondata.com/sproducts.html). I would recommend the s300.

Your engine also probably has a 3 wire idle controller which will have to be swapped to a 2 wire idle controller with an adapter plate.

Hello ant thank you for your help, but i need a bit more if you can help me...don´t get me wrong, it´s just that i´m in a new world, and theres no info(if it was a civic vti i wouldn´t come to the forum, plenty info out there).
I wouldn´t mind paying a person to fit a Hondata on my car, the problem is i don´t know anyone on my country capable of doing that job, there may be some, but they are hidden...

Can you pinpoint me the exact list of material i need?
Another question, when i fit that ECU, the car will run or do i have to create a map?

The manifolds and mechanical parts are the least of my problems, i´ve done that a few times(on diesel engines with mechanical fuel pumps), it´s just this ECU thing that is in a world i never visited before.

Thank you, and once again thank you very much for your patience.

You will need to start from one of the existing calibrations and tune from there.
