Closed loop target Lambda with E10 pump fuel

Post by ajpturbopittsburgh »

I'm wondering why flashpro uses 14.7 afr as stoich? I don't think you can get pure gasoline anywhere in the country anymore. I have an Autometer wideband and it can be programmed for different fuels. It ships and has a default setting of 14.3 since most people run pump gas which is anywhere from E10-E15 as I understand.

I know O2 sensors read lambda no AFR. So if you changed target lambda under the closed loop settings accordingly then Flashpro CAN'T display the correct AFR. And aftermarket widebands that are programmable for the correct fuel will never match flashpros AFR's. Not sure if I have it right. But if the car's wide band is showing 1.0 lambda and you are logging in FP with AFR then it will show 14.7 and with people running pump gas that is E10 then it SHOULD be showing 14.1-14.3 afr.

In some other software packages they have a scalar to set the stoich point for the fuel you are using, then I guess the calculations for display can happen. For example the the factory tunes for the new Fords are using 14.069 for stoich and it's an editable scalar.

I understand what you mean, but it would only change the number displayed to the user, and would not affect the engine operation. The reason we would not do this is because a change like that would just cause confusion for our users. I uses the gasoline AFR even when tuning alcohol.
